FC Midtjylland’s Paul Onuachu has admitted that he “expected more” from Manchester United in the Europa League clash between the two sides on Thursday.
Onuachu scored the winner in Denmark as Midtjylland secured a deserved 2-1 victory over a dismal Man United side.
The result left United with an uphill task to qualify for the next stage of the competition ahead of the second leg at Old Trafford next week. Onuachu claimed that Midtjylland produced their best football against United.
“I think I expected more from them but we gave them what they didn’t expect,” he said.
“We gave our best and got the result.”
Midtjylland were excellent on Thursday and they could have quite easily won by a larger margin had it not been for the brilliance of Sergio Romero in goal for United. Louis van Gaal’s side, meanwhile, were abysmal, completely lacking in ideas and creativity. It would be no surprise if Midtjylland end up going through as United have been awful for the majority of the campaign.
