Tamer Hassan: Jose Mourinho caused Chelsea exit because of Man United job

by Sam Peoples

The actor Tamer Hassan believes Jose Mourinho deliberately caused his Chelsea exit in hopes of taking over as manager from Louis van Gaal at Manchester United.

Mourinho has been heavily associated with a move to Old Trafford and has allegedly already signed a pre-contract agreement worth £48m.

Since his exit from Chelsea, the club have been revitalised and today’s 5-1 mauling off Man City shows just how much the players have improved under Guus Hiddink.

Speaking on BT Sport, Hassan questioned whether Mourinho’s exit from Chelsea was all it seemed:

It’s a conspiracy theory I’ve had myself but never vocalised because, well, it’s mere speculation but it’s interesting to think about.

We all know Mourinho has wanted the United job for years and van Gaal’s disaster opened up a window of opportunity which wasn’t there when Sir Alex Ferguson left in 2013. Maybe Mourinho didn’t want to miss out on it twice.
