Wayne Rooney rejects multiple Chinese offers to stay at Manchester United

Wayne Rooney has rejected two offers from Chinese clubs and has every intention of seeing out his contract with Manchester United until 2018, reports The Mirror.

The reports say Rooney wants to stay to break Sir Bobby Charlton’s all-time goalscoring record at Man United and will only leave the club if he is told he isn’t wanted any more because he has two more years left on his current deal.

Rooney, 30, has his United testimonial this summer having then been at the club for over ten years and as much as the money from China may well be appealing, I can’t see him ever going over there.

Despite playing at United for over a decade, Rooney has kept his family in Merseyside and close to his roots. With three boys now, the last thing he’d want to do is uproot everyone and move to China. After all, Rooney has been on Premier League wages since he was 16 so money won’t be what drives him any more.

Personally, I thought Rooney was going to re-join Everton this summer but at that time I didn’t think Jose Mourinho was going to come into United. If Jose does come, I expect Rooney to be a central figure for his team because the Portuguese manager has always liked Rooney and tried his utmost to bring him to Chelsea previously.

Love him or hate him, Rooney is going to become United’s all-time record goalscorer and if these reports are correct, intends to stay for as long as possible and doesn’t want to leave this summer.
