Manchester United’s negotiations for Renato Sanches already in place with SL Benfica

Manchester United have stepped up their interest in SL Benfica midfielder Renato by having scouts present at every one of their games and negotiations are already in place, Portuguese paper Record reports.

The 18-year-old has been catching the eye of everyone for his performances this season, least not in the UEFA Champions League last week where he earned himself a place in the Team of the Week for how well he played against Zenit St. Petersburg.

Speaking about Man United’s interest, Record states that we are negotiating a move for Sanches during the summer. With an €80m release clause and a contract until 2021, Sanches could end up costing more than Anthony Martial for any potential suitor but he’s certainly earned a great reputation already at such a young age.

Something which works in United’s favour is that Sanches is represented by Jorge Mendes and with the Jose Mourinho rumours intensifying as well, it could well be that we have the upper hand with Barcelona and Real Madrid also interested in Sanches.

It’s crazy to think that teenagers are going to regularly go for more than €50m but at 18 Sanches is already playing in the Champions League and is tipped to be called up to Euro 2016 for Portugal. Talent like that is always in big demand and it sounds like United have taken steps towards trying to secure him before anyone else.
