Juan Mata was voted Manchester United’s man of the match in Monday night’s 3-0 win over Shrewsbury Town.
In what turned out to be a very routine win over lower league opposition, Mata controlled and dictated the play for large parts of the game.
Louis van Gaal took him off after 65 minutes but it was enough to earn him the fans’ vote.

Mata’s excellent free-kick just before half time effectively killed off the game but something which I think should see him improve even more is the competition from Andreas Pereira.
The little Brazilian put in a superb cameo performance from the bench and having had to wait so long to get a chance, he grabbed it with both hands which puts pressure on Mata’s No.10 role.
There have been a lot of occasions where Mata’s poor games haven’t seen him drop out of the team but with Pereira biting at his heels, Juan will have to make sure his levels don’t drop otherwise van Gaal may well bring in Andreas instead.
