Andreas Pereira‘s agent Leonardo Scheinkman has said the young midfielder wants to stay at Manchester United.
Pereira, 20, has had to settle for a lot of time on the bench this season under Louis van Gaal and fans were beginning to think of another potential Paul Pogba situation unfolding.
However, Scheinkman ruled out an exit for the time being and said he was unaware of any desire from Pereira to force an exit from the club.
“Not that I’m aware of. He wants to stay at Manchester United,” he told Sport Witness.
That’s some good news for United fans but my own perspective on this situation is to ask why Pereira would be frustrated at all with what’s going on this season?
He’s had brilliant development and progression over the last two years at United and gone from featuring for the U21s to being a regular figure of our senior squad. Yes there hasn’t been as much game time as he’d have wanted but bear in mind he’s only 20.
Pereira needs to play the long game at United and I hope he does because he’s got so much potential – we saw that in his excellent cameo against Shrewsbury Town. Next year could well be the breakthrough year he’s been waiting for and I could definitely see a regular spot in the No.10 role for him in the not too distant future.
