Timothy Fosu-Mensah has become the latest youngster to be part of Manchester United’s match-day squad and is in line to make his debut this weekend against Arsenal, according to reports.
The Dutch midfielder, who turned 18 in January, is one of our most exciting prospects at the club and I’d be over the moon to see him part of the squad.
Fosu-Mensah joined Man United last summer off the back of some excellent performances for Ajax in the AEGON Future Cup and has been impressing with our academy teams ever since.

He was accelerated through our U18s team into the U19s UEFA Youth League squad and this year made the step up to the U21s where he’s already scored his first goal.
A versatile player, Fosu-Mensah can play at full-back, centre-back and across the whole midfield and he’s always looked a cut above the players at every level to date. Already by the age of 18 he’s very physically developed and looks like a man playing among boys.
He richly deserves a chance to be part of the first-team squad and I’d love to see him get his debut this weekend because I am convinced he’s ready for senior football already.
With some players in the academy you just get a ‘feeling’ about them – Adnan Januzaj, Paul Pogba, Andreas Pereira and Ravel Morrison for example – that they are ready despite their young age. For me, Fosu-Mensah falls into that category.
