Timothy Fosu-Mensah ‘very happy’ with Manchester United debut

Timothy Fosu-Mensah was “very happy” to make his Premier League debut for Manchester United in the 3-2 win over Arsenal on Sunday.

Fosu-Mensah replaced the injured Marcos Rojo during the second half at Old Trafford and the youngster didn’t look at all out of place despite his inexperience.

Along with Fosu-Mensah, James Weir also made his Man United debut as Marcus Rashford scored twice and created another to beat the Gunners. Fosu-Mensah was delighted following the game:

United continued their rich tradition of bringing through young players on Sunday and that, coupled with the result, made the game one of the most satisfying of the season.

Louis van Gaal has been criticised this term, and rightly so, but the way he has handled young players deserves credit.

There has been plenty of doom and gloom for United over the course of the campaign but the future is bright.
