Manchester United midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin has revealed that he and his teammates had a recent meeting in which they vowed to “fight for the badge”.
Man United had come under fire earlier this term following a pair of successive 2-1 defeats against Sunderland and FC Midtjylland in early February.
However, United then beat Shrewsbury 3-0, secured an impressive 5-1 win over Midtjylland in the return leg of their Europa League clash at Old Trafford and saw off Arsenal 3-2 thanks to a brace from 18-year-old Marcus Rashford.
“You have to show that [desire] week in and week out, but even more so when we have a lot of injuries and a lot of young players that are not known. Everyone wants to show that they deserve a place at Manchester United and everyone wants to fight for the badge,” Schneiderlin said.
“We had a big discussion a few weeks ago, saying the results weren’t what we expect, but also that it’s not only about us. It is about the whole town, about the whole football club. So we need to make sure we place Manchester United in the right place.”
It is good to hear that the players pulled together in recent weeks following what has been a torrid time for the club.
Rashford’s performances have seen a sense of optimism return to Old Trafford but there is still plenty of work to be done, with tough fixtures coming up against Watford, Manchester City, Liverpool, Everton and Tottenham Hotspur.
