Here is the latest Manchester United transfer news and gossip.

England boss Roy Hodgson has confirmed that Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney is certain to have a spot in his squad for the European Championships if he is fit. Critics have suggested he should sit out of the Euros as a result of his poor form under Louis van Gaal this season in the Premier League but Hodgson believes Rooney deserves a place in the squad this summer.

Borussia Dortmund chief executive Hans Joachim Watzke has warned Premier League teams that Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang is not for sale. The 26-year-old has scored 22 goals in the Bundesliga this season and has been heavily linked with a move away from the Westfalenstadion as a result, with Man United one of a number of teams said to be interested.

Bastian Schweinsteiger returned to training this week with his Man United team-mates and took part in today’s session ahead of Liverpool. The German midfielder is not expected to be fit to play but it’s good to have him back in training.

Louis van Gaal has insisted that the Europa League is “very important” to Man United this season. With United struggling in the Premier League, winning the competition represents their only chance of securing Champions League football next term. The Dutchman believes that supporters are excited to see United compete in the Europa League.
