Manchester United have made initial contact with Paris Saint-Germain’s Zlatan Ibrahimovic over a free transfer to Old Trafford in the summer, according to L’Equipe.
Ibrahimovic, who is out of contract at PSG at the end of the campaign, recently revealed his intention to move on to pastures new. His agent is due to discuss the possibility of a contract extension with the French club, but the player’s main priority is not to stay.
Man United have been strongly linked with a move for the Swede but they reportedly face competition from Chelsea and abroad.
If United are really going for Ibrahimovic, it would appear to all but confirm that Jose Mourinho is heading to Old Trafford too.
Ibrahimovic has stated in the past that he considers Mourinho to be a father figure, while he does not enjoy the best relationship with Louis van Gaal.
The striker is entering the twilight of his career but he is a game-changer and one that would inject a huge amount of quality into the United squad.
