Here is the latest Manchester United transfer news and gossip.

Bryan Robson believes Louis van Gaal made a mistake in deciding to trim his Manchester United squad in the summer. Van Gaal deemed a number of players surplus to requirements at Old Trafford, including Robin van Persie, Nani, Javier Hernandez and Jonny Evans.

Dwight Yorke believes Man United must appoint Ryan Giggs as van Gaal’s replacement as manager at the end of the season. The Dutchman has come under intense scrutiny at Old Trafford following an awful set of results and he has been heavily criticised by fans and former players.

Manchester City’s Vincent Kompany has been ruled out of Sunday’s derby against Man United after picking up a calf injury in his side’s Champions League clash against Dynamo Kiev this week. Kompany hobbled off after just seven minutes of the 0-0 draw against Kiev after a reoccurrence of the injury.

Lastly, Felipe Anderson has dismissed rumours suggesting that he could leave Lazio at the end of the season for Man United. The Brazilian winger has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford after an encouraging season for Stefano Pioli’s side.
