Matteo Darmian has insisted that he is not entertaining the idea of leaving Manchester United amid rumours that he is seeking a move away from the club.
After a promising start, Darmian has suffered a disappointing campaign at Man United since his summer move from Torino.
There was speculation in the winter transfer window that the Italian full-back was on Juventus’ radar but a move never materialised.
“I’m happy here [in Manchester],” Darmian said.
“I have no reason to think about the transfer market. When I got the call and an offer from Manchester United I did not have to think twice. They are one of the most important clubs in the world, in terms of history and everything else to do with football.
“I started off well, thanks to everyone at the club I have enjoyed every minute here. When there was talk of moving in January I laughed it off as I’m very happy here.
“I have a long contract here and I have not though of anything else other than finishing the season strongly.”
Darmian has been disappointing but he hasn’t been helped by the plethora of injuries at the back this term and the fact that he has been shifted around the back four by Louis van Gaal.
The likes of Bastian Schweinsteiger and Morgan Schneiderlin, too, would have been hoping for more impactful campaigns following their summer moves. United as a whole need to be much better as this season has been one to forget.
