Jose Mourinho told he’s becoming Manchester United’s next manager – report

Former Manchester United fanzine Red Issue has been releasing reports about Jose Mourinho and replacing Louis van Gaal for a few months.

Now, following Man United’s Europa League exit at the hands of Liverpool, Red Issue have said Mourinho’s finally been given the word – he’s going to become Man United manager and replace van Gaal.

They’ve gone as far as to suggest Mourinho’s already lining up his transfer targets but let’s be honest, he’s probably been doing that himself behind the scenes ever since getting sacked as Chelsea boss anyway.

Over the years Red Issue has been hit and miss with their reports but one thing is certain in this case – Mourinho to United is a rumour which is not going away any time soon.

On more than one occasion I’ve made it clear I can’t see anybody apart from Mourinho coming in and I stand by that point. There’s surely no chance the board will take the risk on and appoint Ryan Giggs after the three years we’ve had because we’re at the stage now where their ability to secure sponsorship deals will be affected by United’s poor on the pitch performances, so they have to take a stance.

Van Gaal is a dead man walking and maybe his time will be up if we don’t beat Manchester City on Sunday but I imagine it will only happen when it is mathematically impossible to finish in the top four, in a similar fashion to when David Moyes was sacked.

Right now, all United fans can do is grit their teeth and watch us play because after going out of the Europa League to Liverpool, we’re just a couple of losses away from the season effectively being over if we lose to Man City and West Ham in the FA Cup replay.
