Bastian Schweinsteiger suffers knee injury with Germany

Bastian Schweinsteiger has suffered a knee injury on international duty with Germany and will fly to Munich today to undergo medical examinations.

The 31-year-old only returned to action for Manchester United in our last two games with appearances from the bench after a long lay-off with a knee injury he sustained against Sheffield United at Old Trafford.

However, it sounds like Schweinsteiger’s knee problem has flared up again. Either that or he has now injured the other one.

Schweinsteiger’s fitness has been a problem all season. It took him a long time to get match fit and oddly it was playing two full 90 minute games away on international duty with Germany that actually put him really into shape, now it looks to have done the opposite.

It was always going to be a risk with Schweinsteiger’s recent fitness record at Bayern Munich and so far those concerns have proved to be founded because he’s really struggled all year long. United fans are crossing their fingers it is nothing more than a minor concern but based on what has happened in recent weeks with Bastian, it wouldn’t be a surprise to hear it’s serious enough to keep him out of action for a while.
