Manchester United are confident of completing the signing of Feyenoord youngster Tahith Chong despite interest from a number of clubs, according to ESPN.
Chong, who is capable of playing in midfield, on the wing or as a striker, has earned rave reviews for his performances and he is considered to be one of the most exciting young talents to emerge from the Netherlands in recent years.
The 16-year-old has been on Man United’s radar for some time and the club expects to bring him in despite interest from clubs including Arsenal and Chelsea.
Feyenoord had hoped to keep Chong but the Dutch club are unable to match United in terms of financial clout.
United are in the process of overhauling their youth structure, with Nicky Butt recently promoted to a role as Head of Academy.
Louis van Gaal has shown this season that he is prepared to give youth a chance if they show promise and Chong will know that United are always looking to promote young players to the first team.
