Roy Keane praises Zlatan Ibrahimovic amid Manchester United links

Roy Keane has insisted that Zlatan Ibrahimovic is a “really, really good” player amid rumours that Manchester United are interested in signing the Swede.

Ibrahimovic, out of contract in the summer, recently confirmed his intention to leave Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the campaign, with Man United and teams in China said to be keen on him.

Keane, one of United’s greatest ever players and now filling a role as assistant manager of the Republic of Ireland, praised Ibrahimovic and admitted that he would have been “happy” to line up alongside him.

“He looks a good character,” Keane said.

“You’d be happy to play with him. He’s a big player for Sweden, we’ll have to keep an eye on him.

“As a player? Really, really good. Seen him recently live, I’ve done a few Champions League games, lot of speculation he might be going to England.

“Talented boy. Looks a bit of a character. Sweden are a very good qualifying team and tournament team.”

Ibrahimovic is entering the twilight of his career but he has still managed to score a number of goals for PSG this term.

United lack a mercurial character who would restore a sense of arrogance at Old Trafford and Ibrahimovic would fit the bill perfectly. Even if it is for a year or two, it would be worth bringing him in.
