Andreas Pereira hoping Man United can help him achieve Brazil dream

Andreas Pereira believes that Manchester United can help him achieve his “ultimate dream” of winning the World Cup with Brazil.

Pereira featured in Brazil U23’s 1-0 defeat against Nigeria on Thursday as they prepare for the Olympics in Rio this summer.

The 20-year-old has found first team opportunities hard to come by this term but Pereira insisted that he is “working hard” to reach the Olympics.

“It’s a dream to play in the Olympics so hopefully I can do that,” Pereira said.

“I am working hard to get there and hope I can. It’s an U23 team and obviously I’m 20 now.

“It is very special because Brazil have never won a gold medal in the Olympics for football. It would be nice if we can win it for the first time. Argentina have won it before so we want to catch up with them!

“My ultimate dream is to play for the first team of Brazil and win a World Cup. That’s my biggest dream. I know United can help me a lot with that dream and hopefully we can help out each other.”

Pereira reportedly wanted a loan move away from Old Trafford in the winter transfer window but he was blocked from leaving by Louis van Gaal amid an injury crisis at the club.

The youngster has bags of talent and it is clear that he is too good for the U21s. If he is not going to get first team chances anytime soon, it would be good to see him spend some time away from United on a short-term basis so he can gain some experience at a higher level.
