Daley Blind suffers muscle injury in training with Holland

Manchester United’s Daley Blind has suffered a muscle injury while training with the Netherlands, according to De Telegraaf.

Blind played in Netherland’s 3-2 defeat against France on Friday and took the captain’s armband when Wesley Sneijder went off injured in the first half.

The 26-year-old has played a lot of football in recent months and the workload appears to have taken its toll on him physically. However, Football Oranje insisted that the injury is not too serious:

Blind is the second Man United to suffer an injury over the international break, with Bastian Schweinsteiger partially tearing ligaments in his knee while training with Germany.

The news will be a concern to Louis van Gaal as it looked like United had been coming out the other side of an injury crisis that had ravaged the squad in recent months.

Blind will be doubtful for the friendly against England next week but it is unclear how long he will be sidelined for.
