Louis Saha believes that Manchester United’s Anthony Martial is as good as Thierry Henry was at the same age.
Martial has enjoyed a blistering debut campaign at Man United this season, scoring 12 goals in all competitions.
The Frenchman has inevitably earned comparisons to Henry, who established himself as one of the finest players in the world during his time at Arsenal. Former United striker Saha, who played with Henry for France, insisted that the comparisons have substance.
“He has definitely got the quality and the platform for working really hard at Manchester United,” Saha said.
“When you get that, you get the experience under your belt of being at a big club and you get respected easier with France.
“When you see him, he has as much quality as Thierry Henry at this age.
“Thierry was a really decisive player and that is where Martial needs to work; he needs to be more precise and give more indication to his game.”
Even if Martial makes half the impact that Henry did in the Premier League, it would be a huge coup for United.
The 20-year-old has been relied upon by Louis van Gaal this term and he has taken all the pressures in his stride. Martial’s future is bright and there is no doubt that he will become a superstar at Old Trafford.
