Blind pulled out of training on Monday with a suspected muscle injury which caused real concern for Manchester United fans.
After playing 12 consecutive games for Man United, Blind looked exhausted and everybody could see he needed a rest but Louis van Gaal had continued to start him in every game. So, the news about a reported injury came as no surprise.
However, within the space of a few days Blind has gone from being a major injury concern for Man United fans to captaining his country – not a bad turnaround at all.
That being said, it doesn’t change the fact Blind is desperately in need of a rest and if he’s not going to get that on international duty with Holland, then he should be left out of our team to face Everton on Sunday.
When he’s fit, Blind’s an astute centre-back and a good partner for Chris Smalling but when he’s overtired, his lapses have caused us no end of problems in defence and unless he does finally get a rest, it’s hard not to see those problems repeating themselves.
