Romelu Lukaku open to Jose Mourinho reunion

Romelu Lukaku has revealed that he would be open to a reunion with his former boss Jose Mourinho in the future.

Mourinho deemed Lukaku surplus to requirements while the pair were at Chelsea and he eventually sanctioned the Belgian’s £28m move to Everton in 2014.

Mourinho is said to be the front-runner to replace Louis van Gaal at Manchester United in the event of the Dutchman’s sacking and the club have also been strongly linked with a summer move for Lukaku.

When asked if he could imagine working with Mourinho again, Lukaku said: ”Of course.

“Some people will say that I need to convince him but it’s not a question of that. Three years ago I was 20 and I wasn’t ready to be immediately effective in a top team. Several good seasons, including the current one, have changed the situation. I’ll be 23 [in May] and I could leave this summer.”

Lukaku has enjoyed a remarkable campaign for Everton having scored 25 goals in all competitions this term.

His signing would be a big coup for United, who have lacked a quality presence up top over the course of the campaign. With Lukaku recently revealing that he wants to play in the Champions League next season, there is a possibility that he could move to United in the summer.
