Manchester United’s Potential XI vs Tottenham Hotspur: Timothy Fosu-Mensah starts

by Ben Topliss

Timothy Fosu-Mensah was excellent in Manchester United’s 1-0 win over Everton on Sunday and he will be hoping to start against Tottenham Hotspur next time out.

Fosu-Mensah replaced the disappointing Marcos Rojo at half time and the Dutchman eventually set up Anthony Martial for the winning goal at Old Trafford.

The 18-year-old then moved to centre-back following an injury to Daley Blind and he helped United close out the three points. With Rojo in poor form, Fosu-Mensah is in with a shout of starting against Spurs:

Fosu-Mensah is the latest in a long line of youngsters to impress in the first team this season, with the likes of Marcus Rashford and Cameron Borthwick-Jackson also featuring.

The Dutchman is a physical force and he plays with a presence of mind that belies his years.

Louis van Gaal has followed a mantra of ‘if you’re good enough, you’re old enough’ and there is no reason why Fosu-Mensah can’t expect to feature more and more in the first team during the run-in.
