Manchester United fans were impressed by Timothy Fosu-Mensah‘s superb performance against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday despite their side’s humiliating 3-0 defeat.
The 18-year-old, starting just his second game for the first team, took up the right back slot at the expense of Matteo Darmian after excelling in that position against Everton last week.
In what was a hard-fought encounter, Fosu-Mensah was an imposing force all game. Man United fans were quick to voice their praise for the talented teenager.
Fosu-Mensah, take a bow. What an intervention. Fantastic tackle.

Fosu-Mensah has slotted in again like he's already got over 200 appearances to his name.

It is no coincidence that Spurs’ six minutes of onslaught – which saw them score three goals to kill the game off – came right after Fosu-Mensah was forced off with injury.
In a game where, once again, too many of Louis van Gaal‘s men entered self-destruct mode, the young Dutchman was the linchpin of United’s defence, and the main reason behind why the visitors managed to hold firm against a powerful Spurs side. And as he came off, that notion became horribly clear. Within minutes, the professionalism and assurance that had hitherto characterised United’s performance vanished, giving way to a spineless ramble that Spurs gladly walked over.
Relying on youngsters has been a recurrent theme for Louis van Gaal this season; the exploits of Marcus Rashford (18) and Anthony Martial (20) are the main reasons why he has a job. Such was the case today, as Fosu-Mensah’s imperious display gave United fans something to smile about on an otherwise tumultuous afternoon.
