Here is the latest Manchester United transfer news and gossip.

Everton manager Roberto Martinez wants to sign Michael Carrick in the summer if Manchester United do not offer him a new contract. Carrick’s current contract at Old Trafford expires at the end of the season and he is yet to be offered a new deal.

Former South Africa striker Benni McCarthy believes Jose Mourinho would be a success at Man United if he replaced Louis van Gaal in the summer. Mourinho has been strongly linked with a move to Man United in the event of van Gaal’s exit at Old Trafford and McCarthy insists the Portuguese can get the club back on track.

Danny Mills believes England boss Roy Hodgson should take Marcus Rashford to the European Championships this summer over the likes of Daniel Sturridge. The 18-year-old has burst onto the scene at Old Trafford in recent months, most recently scoring a superb solo effort in the 2-1 win over West Ham United in the FA Cup on Wednesday.

Lastly, Man United sent scouts to watch Renato Sanches in Benfica’s Champions League clash against Bayern Munich on Wednesday, according to Mail Online. Representatives from Arsenal were also in attendance as the 18-year-old Portuguese completed 90 minutes against Bayern in a game he once again looked more than comfortable. On the biggest stage, that’s a real compliment for somebody who is so young talent.
