Jose Mourinho has been approached by Paris St Germain over potentially becoming their new manager in the summer, Sky Sports report.
Laurent Blanc signed a new three-year deal with PSG in February but their embarrassing exit to Manchester City in the Champions League put question marks over the future of Blanc at the French champions, despite the fact they won Ligue 1 in March.
There aren’t many clubs who can financially compete with PSG so there is definite cause for concern there as far as a dithering Manchester United are concerned but seeing as Mourinho has already said he wants to join a competitive league which tests him as a manager, and said he loves England, this may well just be a PR move by the one and only Jorge Mendes aimed to force United’s hand.
Let’s be honest, United’s hand shouldn’t need forcing. Louis van Gaal has lost the backing of a large portion of the fanbase and as a club we find ourselves in managerial limbo heading into the last five games of the season.
Will Mourinho be United manager next year? He’s certainly the favourite to replace van Gaal were he to leave but we’re certainly running a risk of letting other clubs get their foot in the front door first if we continue to be indecisive behind the scenes. If this is indeed a PR move from Mendes, it indicates things are far from finalised in that regard.
