Luke Shaw is closing in on a return to full training with his Manchester United team-mates.
The 20-year-old returned to training on the outside pitches at Carrington a few weeks ago and has said everything is going to plan.
If all continues to go well, Shaw hopes to be back training alongside his team-mates sooner rather than later.
It’s been an incredibly tough season for Shaw mentally. The pure exultation of making his UEFA Champions League debut was cruelly cut short in PSV Eindhoven and he’s had to watch from the sidelines since in a frustratingly tough campaign for the club as well.
While it might be cliche to say, Shaw’s return will truly feel like the arrival of a new player and I for one can’t wait to see him back.
He’s already shown great toughness in getting this far by the start of April but the real test for him is when he’s back playing properly and how he can cope with that from both a physical and mental point of view.
