Louis van Gaal: Manchester United will not be distracted by FA Cup semi-finals

Louis van Gaal believes his Manchester United players will not be distracted by the upcoming FA Cup semi-final against Everton as they prepare to face Crystal Palace on Wednesday.

Man United take on Palace at Old Trafford before the semi-finals of the Cup at Wembley on Saturday.

United must beat Palace to keep themselves in the hunt to finish in the top four of the Premier League and van Gaal insisted that his players will be focused on the task at hand.

“I don’t think our players shall do that because they have to focus on this game because we still have to qualify for the Champions League,” van Gaal said.

“It is important to beat Crystal Palace and they have the same problem. They are also in the semi-final and maybe they are thinking about that game. But we have to win our game against them. We need to win this game more than Arsenal or Man City, they have the four point gap.”

Wayne Rooney and Antonio Valencia have returned to the squad in recent weeks following injury while Ander Herrera is fit again after a slight knock, so United should have the depth to make changes ahead of an important week.

It is important that they do as it is likely that United will need to win every game between now and the end of the season in order to make a success of their campaign.
