Manchester United fans admire Matteo Darmian’s strike against Crystal Palace

Manchester United fans were left in awe following Matteo Darmian‘s goal in their side’s 2-0 win over Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Wednesday night.

The Italian put in an excellent performance at Old Trafford, forcing the opening goal after his fizzing cross was diverted into the back of his own net by Palace’s Damien Delaney.

But it was his strike – a half volley from outside the box – on 55 minutes that left Man United fans humming with admiration. United fans were quick to celebrate Darmian’s fine performance and his first goal for the club:

It has been a challenging debut season for the 26-year-old.

Indeed, Darmian accurately reflects the nature of United’s season as a whole: a good start followed by a sustained period of mediocrity, laced with the occasional moment of brilliance.

That said, the first season for any foreign import is bound to be challenging, and Darmian will be hoping that Wednesday’s performance is a springboard for future success.
