Wayne Rooney has hailed the impact Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford have made this season at Manchester United.

Martial has arguably been Man United’s best player since his arrival from Monaco in the summer, most recently scoring the winner in the 2-1 win over Everton last week in the FA Cup semi-final.

Meanwhile, Rashford has enjoyed a remarkable rise to prominence at Old Trafford in recent months, scoring seven goals since his debut for the club in February. United captain Rooney was full of praise for the duo.

“Obviously it’s early days, especially for Marcus Rashford. He’s a young lad and hasn’t played many games, but the impact he has had has been huge for us in the last couple of months,” Rooney said.

Anthony Martial has settled in quickly. Obviously with the start he had he wasn’t going to go on like that for the whole season, but he’s settled down, is coming up with some big goals for us and you can see the enjoyment in his game.”

The performances of both Martial, 20, and Rashford, 18, have been remarkable given their tender age and relative inexperience.

United seem to have unearthed a pair of real talents, while the likes of Timothy Fosu-Mensah and Cameron Borthwick-Jackson have also impressed in the first team this term. The future is certainly a bright one at Old Trafford.
