Sir Alex Ferguson is an admirer of rumoured Manchester United target Renato Sanches, according to reports.
Man United have watched 18-year-old Sanches in action for Benfica on a number of occasions over the course of the campaign and our scouts have been pretty much an ever present in Portugal this season, with Sanches being the main focus.
The young Portuguese has enjoyed a remarkable rise to prominence at Benfica this term having made 28 appearances in all competitions and he’s scored two goals since his debut for the club in October of last year. In that time, he’s made his first-team, Champions League and international debut.
United have been in discussions with Benfica over a deal for Sanches and are said to be closing in on a move worth €60m over four seasons. Ferguson, who won a plethora of trophies during his 26-year reign as United manager, has given his stamp of approval to the deal and why wouldn’t he? Sanches is a brilliant prospect and Fergie loved to sign a young player with promise.
As for the price, €60m is a hefty price tag for an 18-year-old but Anthony Martial received similar scrutiny last summer and he has arguably been United’s best player this season. Sanches is highly rated throughout Europe and United should sign him if he is willing to make the move.
