Marouane Fellaini faces three match ban for Robert Huth elbow incident – report

Manchester United’s Marouane Fellaini faces a three-match ban from the FA following his clash with Leicester City’s Robert Huth on Sunday, according to reports.

Huth may also be handed a violent conduct charge for his part in the clash, which saw Fellaini throw an elbow into the defender’s chin when he pulled the Belgian’s hair.

The incident was missed by the match officials and the pair are expected to be given retrospective punishments.

Dele Alli suffered a similar fate when he was adjudged to have punched West Bromwich Albion’s Claudio Yacob recently. Any ban would mean that Fellaini would miss Man United’s remaining league games but he would be free to play in the upcoming FA Cup final.

Louis van Gaal defended Fellaini after the match but it was hard to justify the midfielder’s reaction to Huth’s hair-pulling.

His performances divide opinion amongst the Old Trafford faithful but there is certainly a case for his inclusion in the side in certain situations. Fellaini’s display in the Cup quarter-final win against West Ham earlier this term, for instance, proved crucial in getting his side through to the later stages of the competition.
