Manchester United are interested in a £65m move for Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann, according to the Sun.
Griezmann has enjoyed a fine season at Atletico, scoring 31 goals in all competitions for the Spanish side this term.
As well as Man United, Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain are keen on securing the player’s signature. Borussia Dortmund’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is also on United’s radar as they look to revamp their attack.
It is believed that a change in management at Old Trafford would not affect United’s pursuit of Griezmann. In fact, Jose Mourinho, who is said to be the front-runner to replace Louis van Gaal at United, is a big admirer of the Frenchman.
United have money to spend and it is not too far fetched to suggest that Griezmann could be tempted by the financial package on offer.
However, United are firmly a team in a rebuilding process, while Diego Simeone has moulded Atletico into one of the finest teams in Europe. Griezmann may see any move as a step down, although United should be back among Europe’s elite soon enough.
