Leicester City boss Claudio Ranieri told Louis van Gaal that he is doing a “fantastic job” at Manchester United in the wake of the 1-1 draw between the two sides on Sunday.
Man United have reached the FA Cup final and they are still in the hunt for a top four finish in the Premier League.
Meanwhile, Ranieri has overseen a remarkable campaign with Leicester considering they were relegation candidates just one year ago. Ranieri had kind words for van Gaal after the match on Sunday, and the Dutchman agreed when told that he is doing a good job at Old Trafford:
Van Gaal has spent upwards of £250m since his arrival at United in 2014 and the club really should be doing better, particularly when you look at Leicester, who have operated on a comparatively shoestring budget.
This season may end with silverware and Champions League football but performances and results have been largely abysmal over the course of the campaign.
Jose Mourinho is said to be waiting in the wings to take over at United in the summer and it’s safe to say that there wouldn’t be too many fans disappointed if van Gaal did leave the club.
