Norwich manager Alex Neil issues rallying cry ahead of Manchester United clash

Norwich City boss Alex Neil has urged his players to put in a big performance against Manchester United on Saturday as the Canaries look to avoid relegation from the Premier League.

Norwich, currently 19th in the table, two points behind Newcastle United in 17th, take on Louis van Gaal’s side at Carrow Road this weekend.

The reverse fixture saw Norwich secure a shock 2-1 win over Man United at Old Trafford thanks to goals from Cameron Jerome and Alex Tettey. But Neil believes that Norwich should be looking to emulate their performance against Arsenal last time out, when they played well but were beaten 1-0.

“We need to make sure we take the performance against Arsenal into the game this weekend,” Neil said.

“We were good at Old Trafford last time but we need to make sure we can make the difference and keep the quality on the day, we need to win games at the highest level and it comes no bigger than this.”

Norwich are fighting for their lives at the bottom of the table and facing them will be a difficult test for United.

But van Gaal’s side cannot afford to slip up themselves as a top four finish in the Premier League is still up for grabs.

It will be interesting to see how the Dutchman lines up his side on Saturday, particularly with Marouane Fellaini suspended and an FA Cup final on the horizon. It is possible that supporters may see some rotation at Carrow Road as a result.
