Sky Sports pundit Charlie Nicholas believes that Manchester United’s Timothy Fosu-Mensah will develop into a “superstar” someday.
Fosu-Mensah, 18, has enjoyed a breakthrough campaign at Man United this term, putting in a number of impressive performances since his debut against Arsenal in February.
Nicholas has been impressed with Fosu-Mensah, who he believes has the potential to become a mainstay at United for years to come.
“Every time I see Fosu-Mensah I wonder how he hasn’t been in the team all season. This kid is going to be a superstar,” Nicholas said.
Fosu-Mensah certainly seems to have it all: pace, power, technical ability and a sensible head on his shoulders.
The way he has dealt with his transition into the first team has been remarkable given his age and relative inexperience and there is no doubt that he will develop into a top player one day.
But in the short-term, Fosu-Mensah seems to have been affected by the penalty he conceded in United’s FA Cup semi-final earlier this term, although David de Gea saved the spot-kick. He hasn’t featured since for United but, with Louis van Gaal hinting that he may rotate his side against Norwich City this weekend, Fosu-Mensah will be hopeful of returning to the starting XI.
