Manchester United fans disappointed with Marcos Rojo’s performance against West Ham United

Manchester United fans were left unimpressed with Marcos Rojo‘s display in their side’s 3-2 defeat to West Ham United on Tuesday.

The 26-year-old was a flimsy figure on the left hand side of defence all night, and his inability to provide any attacking impetus only highlighted his ineptitude.

Man United fans did not hold back in their criticism of Rojo:

Rojo’s arrival at the club back in August 2014 was met with more relief than general celebration – mainly because of a lack of defensive options at the time. His signing felt necessary, and hugely important.

Fast forward nearly two years, and Rojo’s stock has fallen monumentally at a time when a number of younger, more dynamic defenders are emerging through the ranks. The game quite literally passed the Argentinian by tonight; West Ham, buoyed by the occasion, flew past him on several occasions. He looked painfully out of touch with the pace of the game, and, most worryingly, sapped of any confidence.

Regardless of who the manager is, Rojo’s future – with the likes of Timothy Fosu-Mensah and Cameron Borthwick-Jackson serving as more viable options (as well as more potential arrivals in the summer) – at Old Trafford lies on thin ice.
