Supporters call for Louis van Gaal to leave Manchester United

Manchester United fans have called for Louis van Gaal to leave the club in light of their side’s 3-2 defeat to West Ham United on Tuesday.

The defeat means that the Dutchman’s side must rely on Swansea beating Manchester City on the last day of the season in order to stand a chance of reaching fourth spot.

A large portion of Man United fans have already turned on van Gaal, and it seems that tonight’s shambolic defeat has proven to be the final straw for some:

Make no mistake, United’s steady decline this season stems from the top. Van Gaal is an adamant enforcer of an outdated, stagnant system; painfully resistant to change; authoritarian in his endeavours to suck the life out this once vibrant, feared club.

And that is, perhaps, why United fans are so adamant in their calls for van Gaal to leave the club. His approach to such a promising side has, above all, taken the fun and romance out of the game. The pain lies not in the woeful underachievement itself, but rather in the pitiful, whimpering, ‘death-by-a-thousand-cuts’ nature of the underachievement.

Lower in the league, fewer points, and far, far fewer smiles all round. Van Gaal’s position is simply untenable.
