Adnan Januzaj ruled out of Bournemouth game with injury

Louis van Gaal has revealed that Adnan Januzaj will miss Manchester United’s game against Bournemouth this weekend through injury.

The Belgian youngster suffered the injury during training this week but will not be able to build on his West Ham cameo which was his first game for Man United in three months.

“Unfortunately Januzaj has been injured in the training session, so he is out for Sunday,” van Gaal said ahead of Bournemouth.

“We have to wait and see for the final. The rest is like it was. Darmian is still out but can be in. It is dependable on the progress. Schweinsteiger is out and Shaw is out. Ashley Young is coming in, so he is restored of his injury and can train tomorrow with our squad. But it is one training session.”

To say Januzaj has had a disappointing season would be a massive understatement. It started off well for him when he played a few consecutive games and scored a cracker away to Aston Villa but he was soon shifted out on loan to Borussia Dortmund.

In Germany, Januzaj started a total of zero Bundesliga games for Dortmund and his loan spell was going so badly that van Gaal recalled him to United.

We saw him a few times for the U21s but he’s also been plagued by a series of niggling injuries and this latest setback may well have ended his season as I doubt he’d be rushed back to play in the FA Cup final

Januzaj has got so much promise and potential that I hope he can discount this last year as nothing more than a blip. If he can keep his head down and use this summer to really get himself as fit as possible, then next season might be the platform on which he can start to really build his United career on.
