Real Madrid’s Raphael Varane willing to move to Manchester United if Jose Mourinho joins him – report

Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane would be willing to join Manchester United this summer if Jose Mourinho also makes the move to Old Trafford, according to reports.

Man United are said to be interested in a £30m move for Varane, who has grown frustrated at a lack of first team opportunities at the Bernabeu this term.

Varane is reportedly winning to move to United but only if Mourinho joins him at Old Trafford.

The pair worked together at Madrid and Mourinho has gone on record to say he is a big fan of the Frenchman. Varane has no interest in working with Louis van Gaal, who has overseen a disappointing campaign at United this season.

United’s 3-2 defeat against West Ham United last time out showed exactly why the club need to strengthen at the back this summer.

Daley Blind has performed admirably in central defence this term but he was brutally exposed against West Ham as he put in arguably his worse performance in a United shirt.

Mourinho is renowned for his defensive organisation and it is no wonder why Varane would want to work with him once again. It makes complete sense for United to secure the signature of Mourinho, who is a proven, world-class manager.
