Louis van Gaal is using a full strength Manchester United squad for tonight’s final Premier League game of the season against Bournemouth.
Here is the full Man United squad vs Bournemouth (via MEN): De Gea, Romero, Valencia, Varela, Jones, Smalling, Blind, Borthwick-Jackson, Carrick, Herrera, Mata, Pereira, Memphis, Young, Lingard, Martial, Rooney, Rashford
Of all the baffling and strange decisions from van Gaal throughout his time at United, this has surely got to be up there with the worst of them. With an FA Cup final in four days time, he has decided not to rest any key players for a dead rubber Premier League game and instead has taken the risk of injury by including them in the squad.
Some might try to argue that getting a point confirms a spot in the Europa League group stages but so does winning the FA Cup final. Get your priorities straight Louis.
Touch wood this doesn’t happen but if any of our key players pick up and injury against Bournemouth, it would be so utterly pointless and avoidable. Plus, if they play 90 minutes tonight, they’ll only have four days to recover for Wembley.
The strength of that squad is a very strange move by van Gaal but at this point there isn’t much he can do which surprises me.
