Manchester United make firm offer for Juventus’ Paul Pogba – report

Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain have made firm offers for Juventus’ Paul Pogba, according to Duncan Castles.

Juventus have budgeted on taking a transfer fee of least €80m for the French international since agreeing that price with Barcelona last summer, but Barcelona’s priorities have changed, allowing other clubs the chance to come in for Pogba.

Man United and PSG have supposedly been left as the only viable options for the player as Chelsea are not keen on investing a huge single sum while Manchester City are focusing on other areas of their squad.

Pogba originally left United as a youngster in 2012 following a disagreement with Sir Alex Ferguson before going on to become one of the best players in the world. Despite his acrimonious exit, if he wants to come there is no reason why the club shouldn’t try to re-sign him as our midfield is in need of strengthening.

That being said, I never in a million years thought Pogba would ever come back to United after leaving and what a sickener it would be to pay something like €80m for a player you let leave on a free transfer only a few years beforehand. He certainly goes down as one of Sir Alex’s biggest mistakes when it comes to transfers.

United are in need of bringing new blood into midfield with Michael Carrick looking likely to leave this summer but will that be Pogba? Castles suggests we’re at least interested in the Frenchman, so we’ll see how, or if, this rumour develops.
