Daley Blind: I hope Louis van Gaal stays at Manchester United next season

Manchester United defender Daley Blind hopes Louis van Gaal will stay at the club next season, despite reports suggesting he will to be replaced with Jose Mourinho next week.

Hours after United’s FA Cup victory over Crystal Palace, reports claimed a deal had been agreed and van Gaal would be leaving in the coming days with former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho taking over

His future at Old Trafford has been uncertain for months now, but it seems the club have finally decided to pull the plug on his contract and bring in Mourinho after a Champions League qualification was impossible.

Despite that, Blind admitted he wanted the Dutchman to stay next campaign.

“It is a great atmosphere and the team is really close,” he said.

“The manager was very happy afterwards, like everybody else. It is the first time I have heard that Jose Mourinho will take over.

“I just hope the manager stays.”

It’s the first time United have won the FA Cup in 12 years and what looks to be van Gaal’s last game in charge at Man United, reports emerged not long after celebrations started and he was left to face questions about his future in the press conference after the victory rather than enjoying the moment.

United fans still understandably want van Gaal to leave after a disappointing season in charge but Mourinho’s appointment definitely splits the opinions of fans as some worry over his tactics and youth involvement.

With many young prospects blossoming under van Gaal, some believe Mourinho could take their development backwards rather than allowing them to progress with opportunities on the first-team.

It still seems Mourinho will finally be awarded with his dream job and should be taking over soon enough as Sky Sports claim United are expected to make an announcement on his arrival within the next 48 hours.
