Zlatan Ibrahimovic has backed Jose Mourinho to succeed at Manchester United amid reports suggesting they’re both set for roles at Old Trafford.
The Sweden international has been heavily linked with Man United since the announcement of his exit from Paris Saint-Germain and will be available on a free transfer this summer.
Speaking at a press conference this afternoon, Ibrahimovic dropped a huge hint about receiving an offer from United and when questioned about his future, he made it clear his decision has already been made.
“The future is written,” he said.
“I made my choice a long time ago. I just have to push the button.”
When further queried about United, he added: “Let’s see what happens.”
Zlatan also made it abundantly clear he’d be happy to work with Mourinho again having previously worked under him at Inter Milan.
“He [Mourinho] is the man to bring them [Manchester United] back to the top,” he said.
“I had fantastic time working with him. If we will work again I don’t know.”
Ibrahimovic has on more than one occasion confirmed he has received offers from the Premier League and there will be no shortage of suitors but his previous relationship with Mourinho suggests United would be front runners if England was his next destination. He might demand wages of £200,000 per week but who is to say he wouldn’t be worth it?
One thing is for sure – Zlatan and Mourinho together would create some of the biggest fireworks the Premier League has ever seen, let alone United.
