Jose Mourinho has promised Manchester United fans that he will return the club to winning ways next season.
Mourinho was confirmed as Louis van Gaal’s successor at Man United on Friday, bringing to an end months of speculation.
The Portuguese, in an interview with MUTV, insisted that he will do “absolutely everything” to bring United back to the top.
“I think what the fans are expecting me to say is that they want me to win and more than that I need the supporters and players to hear me say that. But I really think we can win,” Mourinho said.
“I will give absolutely everything to try and go in the direction we all want.”
Mourinho has coveted the United job for a number of years and he has now finally got his wish. He will also be given full control at the club, something he hasn’t always been afforded at his previous teams in the past.
Mourinho’s CV is certainly sparkling and his track record would suggest that supporters can look forward to success, despite his disastrous campaign at Chelsea last year.
United now head into a crucial summer as their imbalanced squad is in need of improvement. The hope is that the top players are lured by the prospect of working with Mourinho.
