Zlatan Ibrahimovic wants £220,000-a-week at Manchester United – report

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is keen on joining Manchester United but he would be looking for £220,000-a-week to do so, according to the Guardian.

Ibrahimovic, who is a free agent having left Paris Saint-Germain this summer, has been strongly linked with a move to Man United but the player and club need more time to consider their options.

United have held initial talks with Ibrahimovic’s agent, Mino Raiola, and both parties are relaxed about the situation.

Ibrahimovic would be looking for a yearly wage of €15m (£11.3m) but it is not said to be a stumbling block as he would be joining on a free transfer.

Jose Mourinho, widely expected to be announced as United’s new manager this week, is considering a reunion with Ibrahimovic, who he won Serie A with at Inter Milan in 2009.

Ibrahimovic’s wage demands are hefty but a club of United’s stature should be expecting to pay that much for the best players. In any case, the commercial opportunities his capture would present would go some way to offsetting the cost.

On the pitch, Ibrahimovic could provide a presence up top that United simply have not had lately. Marcus Rashford has done an excellent job this term but United cannot rely on an 18-year-old week in, week out.
