Phil Neville believes Marcus Rashford will be a “sensational footballer” for Manchester United and England
Rashford strengthened his chances of being included in Roy Hodgson’s squad for Euro 2016 when he scored the opener against Australia after just 138 seconds on the pitch.
The 18-year-old became the youngest player to score on his England debut and helped Hodgson’s side defeat Australia 2-1 on Friday night.
Speaking about Rashford, Neville claims he definitely has a bright future ahead of him.
“He’s burst on the scene he looks like he’s been playing there for years. He doesn’t look nervous, he looks fearless and the goals he’s scored are fantastic.
“Rightly so he’s earned himself a place in Roy Hodgon’s 26, whether he goes is another story because the biggest strength in our squad are out front players; Vardy, Kane, Rooney and Daniel Sturridge.”
“He is definitely one for the future and he’s got a great temperament, great head on his shoulders and he just needs to keep on learning and taking these experiences on in his stride.”
Rashford has shown his footballing ability is beyond his years with a cool head and good technique as he volleyed in England’s first goal of the night. He couldn’t have proven his potential in a better way and may find his way into Hodgson’s 23-man squad for the finals in France next month.
He’s young and adds lightening pace up front to help get behind even the best of defences, he impressed England fans and came off to a deserved standing ovation at the end of the night. He was unknown before his debut against FC Midtjylland and his quality is still somewhat unknown, as soon as you think he’s reached a peak he makes a huge step and proves himself on one of the biggest possible stages.
The youngster had a shooting accuracy of 88.89% and a conversion rate of 55.56%, to say he’s scored with his first shot in the Europa League, Premier League and for England is evidence of his efficiency in front of goal. He should definitely be on plane for the Euro 2016.
