Jose Mourinho willing to sell Manchester United duo Juan Mata and Daley Blind – report

Jose Mourinho is willing to sanction the exits of Juan Mata and Daley Blind at Manchester United, according to Sky Sports News.

Mourinho is said to be happy to let the pair go if acceptable bids come in, with the expectation that he can sign direct replacements.

Mata was sold to Man United by Mourinho while they were at Chelsea in January 2014. The Portuguese had reservations with Mata’s workrate and tactical suitability and his views have not changed.

Meanwhile, Mourinho is not said to be happy with Blind’s physical attributes if he is to play as a central defender. In the past, Mourinho has signed tall, strong defenders such as Kurt Zouma and Raphael Varane.

Mata is a fans’ favourite at United and his potential exit may come as a shock given his fine goals and assists record since joining the club. But there is a sense that Mata should be doing much more in terms of his all-round game to justify his spot in the starting XI. He goes missing too much in games.

As for Blind, it is hard to disagree with the notion that he is not a centre-back. That being said, he has proven to be a versatile player during his time at United and it may be worth keeping him in the squad.
