Ryan Giggs is on the verge of leaving Manchester United due to a lack of communication between him and Jose Mourinho about his potential role at Old Trafford next season, according to The Times’ Paul Hirst.
The report claims that Giggs is yet to speak with Mourinho about his future despite being appointed as Louis van Gaal’s successor last week.
Giggs has been offered a lesser role at Man United under Mourinho but he wants to work as assistant manager, a role he had previously been occupying under van Gaal. However, Mourinho is said to prefer Rui Faria instead.
Giggs, who has extended his holiday in Dubai to the weekend in order to avoid face-to-face talks with Mourinho, is annoyed with how he has been treated by the club.
He has reminded them that his contract states he has a further year as an assistant.
Giggs is a United legend and it would be a massive shame to see his 29-year association with the club come to an end.
But the appointment of Mourinho was a necessary one as United were stagnating under van Gaal. Perhaps the best move for Giggs now would be to try and find experience elsewhere.
