Manchester United have made a £30million move for Villarreal’s highly-rated centre-back Eric Bailly, according to Daily Mail.
He has been monitored by Manchester City, Bayern Munich and Arsenal but Man United have allegedly made their move for the Ivory Coast international.
The 22-year-old central defender played 25 times for Villarreal in La Liga last season, and made seven Europa League appearances, scoring once.
Bailly is not believed to have a release clause in his contract, which means all four clubs will have to participate in a bidding war if they want to land his services this summer.
We haven’t heard much of him but it looks like he could be a great signing for the club after missing out on Sergio Ramos last summer. Blind has been brilliant in defence but it’s clear he’d be better suited to a midfield role and with Chris Smalling‘s spectacular season the only thing missing was a consistently solid defensive partnership.
Villarreal only signed Bailly in January 2015 from Espanyol to replace Gabriel Paulista, who joined Arsenal earlier that month. He has since won 14 caps for Ivory Coast after making his international debut in the same month.
He was left out of the Ivory Coast squad that faced Gabon on Saturday while Barcelona and Leicester have also been to watch him since January but Villarreal are reportedly confident of the deal going through to United.
